I’m inclined to the traditional, have strong technical skills and a great interest in art history.
In 2009 at St. Francis Xavier I participated in the restoration of dozens of murals throughout the church. I cleaned(using emulsion), inpainted and hand varnished. Rockefeller Center continued soon after in 2010 where I helped clean(using strappo technique), consolidate(injecting adhesive into detached areas), inpaint and spray varnish Jose Maria Sert's gigantic murals on the walls and ceiling of the 30 Rock lobby.
I attended graduate school at the New York Academy. Previous to that I worked in a small but prestigious conservation studio. My responsibilities ranged from consolidating, applying special glues, heat and pressure to flaking, losses and tears. Cleaning, using the appropriate solvents and soaps with a careful and attentive eye. Infilling losses and tears matching textures. Inpainting, exactly matching the color of losses, tears and abrasions. Varnishing, by hand or spray with the appropriate glossy, satin or matte finish. The range of work varied from small(only a few inches) to large(several feet). I have also worked in restoration of vintage posters, which included inpainting with watercolor pencils, piecing in and mounting of posters on acid free paper/linen backing.
I am acquainted with difficulties and demands of conservation work, such as and the need for precision and speed. Having worked with a team of restorers I am accustomed to collaborating, following directions and meeting deadlines.
